  • What to Expect After Enrolling (Annual Enrollment and New Hire)

    Annual Enrollment - Â鶹¹ÙÍø's employee benefit open enrollment period ran from 7/10 - 8/11. Benefit changes are effective 9/1, with deduction changes starting in September. 

    If you changed plans, you should receive new benefit cards by the 2nd week in September. If you need to order new cards, need claim filing instructions, or other information, you may contact the carriers individually listed on Birdville's Benefits Portal by clicking , or scrolling down this page for more information. 

    New Hires - If you are a new hire, your medical benefits are effective the 1st of the month after your hire date; all other benefits are effective the 1st of the month after 30 days. For many of you, this will be 9/1 and 10/1. New hires should expect cards approximately three weeks after you enrolled in the system.

    Bi-weekly Employees - Health benefit deductions are now based on 24 paychecks. Therefore, benefits will not be deducted from your 9/29/23 paycheck. TRS, regular taxes, voluntary retirement contributions, and other deductions such as garnishments are not affected and will be deducted.  

     PLEASE REVIEW YOUR SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER PAYCHECK(S) AND MAKE SURE DEDUCTIONS ARE CORRECT. ERRORS FOUND MORE THAN 30 DAYS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE MAY NOT BE CORRECTABLE. 

  • Medical - Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX (BCBSTX) and Baylor Scott and White HMO

    A Personal Health Guide is available 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday - Friday at 1-866-355-5999 for in-depth questions about TRS Active Care Plans, or 1-844-633-5325 for the Central and North Texas Scott and White HMO. 

    In addition, the BCBS 24/7 Nurseline is available at 1-833-968-1770 for non-urgent conditions; or you may use the District's telehealth service, MDLive, at no cost by calling (888) 365-1663 and stating FBS is your group.

    Medical plans run on a 9/1-8/31 plan year, meaning deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are reset every September 1.

    BCBSTX administered TRS-ActiveCare plans

    Participants enrolled in TRS-ActiveCare Primary or TRS-ActiveCare Primary+ will receive an ID card for each covered participant. Please ensure the PCP listed is correct. Call BCBSTX at 866-355-5999 if it is not. 

    Participants enrolled in TRS-ActiveCare HD or TRS-ActiveCare 2 employee-only plans will receive one ID card, while those on family plans will receive two ID cards.

    You can also use the BCBSTX mobile app. Call a Personal Health Guide at 1-866-355-5999 to get your ID card information so you can register for SM (BAMSM).

    Once you have that information, you can get an ID card by:

    * downloading the BCBSTX App from the Apple App Store or Google Play to get a digital ID card; or

    * textingBCBSTXAPP to 33633 and following the prompts.

    * Once in BAM, left-click on the picture of the ID card you want to print or download.

    Baylor Scott and White Administered HMO plan

    Participants who enroll in a Central and North Texas Scott and White Care Plan (SWCP) will also receive new ID cards if they changed plans, and may use them on or after September 1.  

    You can also access your electronic ID card starting Sept. 1 through the . Use your social security number to register. You may also contact customer service at 1-844-633-5325 to get your ID card information.

    Express Scripts Pharmacy

    Express Scripts is a new carrier this year. If you are enrolled in a TRS-ActiveCare plan, you will receive a new Express Scripts ID card mid-September. 

    You may also register at   to print your personalized ID card. You will need to contact Express Scripts at 844-367-6108 to obtain your member ID and register. You will need your phone number on your account, date of birth, zip code, and social security number when you call Express Scripts. 

    At , you may also do the following without logging in:

    • Check your medication costs and see what drugs are covered and not covered;
    • View the preferred drug list;
    • Print a Temporary ID Card via the template;
    • Explore your pharmacy options including home delivery, retail, and specialty pharmacies.
  • Dental - Lincoln

    Lincoln is a new carrier this year. You should receive cards by the second week of September, or three weeks from your new hire enrollment completion date. You may contact the carrier directly, register on their site to view your cards, and look for providers at the following:

    Dental plans run on a 1/1-12/31 plan year, meaning deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are reset every January 1.  

     

    District Paid Telehealth - MDLive

    The District-paid telehealth benefit is provided through MDLive. New employees have access to this benefit beginning the first of the month after 30 days of employment (for example, hires in August are effective 10/1). This service is at no cost to you or your covered dependents (spouse and children under 26) as long as you have listed them in THEbenefitsHUB.

    To register for telehealth through MDLive, please be sure to provide Financial Benefit Services (FBS) as your group/employer. Please do not use Birdville or your medical plan as your group or MDLive will charge you for your visit. You may access MDLive in the following ways:

    Web Access: ONLY USE the URL below. This will automatically route you through the FBS registration process.

    Vision - Superior

    If you are a new enrollee in the vision plan, you should have cards within about three weeks of your completed enrollment in THEbenefitsHUB.

    The vision plan runs on a per-service year, meaning you are not eligible for glasses/contacts/services until 12 months after your last service.     

     

    Flexible Spending (FSA) and Dependent Care (DCA) Accounts - Higginbotham

    You may have already received an enrollment confirmation email and if you are a new enrollee, you should have your cards within three weeks of enrollment completion in THEbenefitsHUB. If you were already enrolled, you will continue to use the card you have. To view your account, submit for reimbursement, set up direct deposit, and more, please visit the following:

    Health Savings Accounts (HSA) - EECU

    If you do not receive your card within 4 weeks of enrollment, please contact EECU directly at (817) 882-0800, or stop by a nearby branch. 

    You may register for online account access at , but will need your account information that was mailed to you to register. Once registered, you can view your account balance, request expense reimbursement, and much more!

     

    Legal Services - LegalShield

    To use services, log onto LegalShield's website at using the member number mailed to you at enrollment and your email address you have on file in THEbenefitsHUB. This may be your personal or Â鶹¹ÙÍø email. 

     

    Identity Theft - Experian

    You should receive an email from Experian to register for your ID Theft services. The link in the email is specific to your enrollment information and must be used to to create your account on the portal. Once you have created your online account, you may then download the My Financial Expert app (see below) on your phone and connect it to your services using your log-in information you created on the portal. The My Financial Expert app is your one-stop app for ID Theft services, Dark Web Monitoring, credit reports and scores, and much more. There are also supplemental apps you can download for the VPN, Password Manager, and Safe Browser. Instructions for those apps can be found in your online portal.     Other Benefits

    The  disability, cancer, hospital indemnity, critical illness, life insurance, and emergency transport plans may not send a card, but you may access contact information and claim instructions on our benefits portal by . 

    New participants in identity theft or legal services should receive a welcome packet in the mail the month of their effective date. Contact information for all of these carriers can be found on the benefits portal by , then click on the benefit on the left side.
