Feeling under the weather? Try MDLive.

Rather than going to see your doctor or an urgent care facility for routine illnesses, try the telemed benefit through MDLive. The service is at no cost to you or your immediate family members covered by the district, and does not require enrollment in a medical plan. MDLive physicians are available for consult via phone, mobile app, or video and can diagnose routine illnesses such as colds, allergies, rashes, ear infections, etc. For more information on MDLive, please visit the district's benefits portal . PLEASE NOTE: When registering for MDLive, state your employer or group as FBS (Financial Benefit Services), not Birdville ISD. Stating Birdville as your employer will result in you being charged for your visit. 

Keep your Costs Down – Go In Network and Don’t Forget to Shop Around!

There are a number of tools available to help you manage your costs when receiving services from your medical, dental, and other providers. It is especially important to stay in-network on any PPO benefit plans, including the ActiveCare 1-HD plan. Staying in network guarantees the provider cannot balance bill you (surprise billing) for hundreds, or even thousands, more than what you expect. And don't forget about network participation for ancillary doctors such as anesthesiologists.

All of the provider networks, medical, dental and vision, can be found on the District’s benefits portal . Just click on the benefits to the left and look under the Quick Links for the provider network links. Use the following network names for your search:

Getting pricing from two to three in-network providers for services such as an MRI, X-Ray, or other diagnostic service can lower your out-of-pocket costs significantly. Even though providers may be in network, they do not all charge the same amount. Keep reading for help on this.

In addition to shopping around for your medical services, don't forget to look for coupons and discounts on your prescriptions. Often, pharmaceutical companies will have discounts and coupons on their website. Using these can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars!

Access a Health Concierge and Plan Portals

Confused on where to start? Start with the TRS-ActiveCare Plan Participant site, or . These sites are loaded with resources, contact information and important information about medical plans. In addition, by accessing specific plan portals below, you can estimate the cost of services, check the status of claims, find in-network doctors, urgent and emergency care facilities, print a temporary ID card and much more.

This is your advocate to help you put all of the pieces together – benefits, providers, services, wellness, tools, etc. They can help you save money, explain bills, explain difficult issues, and more!

Get Rewarded for your Health Care Choices

Where you choose to receive your health care services can have an impact on your out-of-pocket costs. That’s why TRS-ActiveCare rolled out a new program called Member Rewards for TRS-ActiveCare Primary and TRS-ActiveCare Primary+ participants, to reward them for making cost-effective health care choices.

Cancer Plan - REWARD!

If you are enrolled in the Cancer plan, there is a one-time annual reward of $50 for a preventative cancer test, i.e., colonoscopy, well-women exam, etc.

Complete the Wellness Claim Form and submit to American Public life.
