Welcome to Birdville ISD's Educational Planning for Life Guide

  • Educational Planning for Life | Catalog of High School Courses

Planning a four-year high school program is a serious undertaking.

Although many of your courses will be determined by the graduation requirements, you will still have many other choices to make during your years of school. The courses you select should be guided largely by your plans for the future. Will you continue your education in college or in a technical college? Do you want to join the military? Do you want to learn a career skill in order to enter the full-time work force immediately after school? Are you thinking of entering a profession that requires many years of specialized education? The answers to these questions are extremely important for making decisions about your course selections for high school. Those answers should also be guided by your interests and abilities.

Birdville ISD offers you many ways to prepare for a productive adult life.

The district’s high schools provide a wide range of programs that prepare students for post-high school experiences: college, technical school, military service, full-time employment and other areas. Outlined in the following pages are not only the graduation requirements for each program, but also samples of graduation plans to determine which classes you can take for a variety of career plans. The Endorsement Area of Study section of this guide explains future career options in terms of interest areas and suggests courses and activities that will help you arrive at your goal in life. After the Endorsement Area of Study section, all Â鶹¹ÙÍø courses are listed and described, with information about prerequisites and grade level placement. The appendix contains information on how to prepare for your life after graduation, no matter what path you choose. By planning wisely and following through on preparation, you can create a future in which you will be successful.
